Born in Berhampore, West Bengal, India, Ghoshal started learning Bengali songs from her mother at the age of four. She gave her first stage performance and received her first formal training in Hindustani Classical Music when she was six years old. Ghoshal learned Classical Hindustani Music from local musicians, as well as, from Shri Jayawardhan Bhatnagar, her school's music teacher.
At the age of 13, Shreya Ghoshal moved to Mumbai where she continued the musical training that eventually led her to become one of India’s most awarded entertainers. In 2014, Ghoshal was recognized as the “Best Female Playback Singer” at several major award ceremonies including the 17th Screen Awards, the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) and the GiMA Awards for her song “Sunn Raha Hai”, featured in the film Aashiqui.
Ghoshal was a recipient of India’s National Film Award for the second consecutive year at the age of 25, and has won the award a total of four times. She has served as a judge on the children’s musical talent show "Voice Of India - Chhote Ustad” and her performance as a team leader and artist on "Music Ka Maha Muqabala" has been considered legendary. Ghoshal has also been featured in Forbes’ list of the top 100 celebrities of India.

Sri Ayyappa Society of Tampa Inc. (SASTA: http://swamysharanam.org/) is a non-profit organization founded in 2000 by several Ayyappa devotees in the Tampa area. SASTA has grown to over 500 registered devotees and is currently raising money to construct a temple similar to Lord Ayyappa’s temple in Kerala, India. The new construction will leave a legacy for generations to come.
