Campus Parking and Traffic Alert
On the evening of Tuesday, September 25, 2012, Florence & the Machine will perform at the USF Sun Dome, attracting more than 5,000 patrons, and the USF’s men’s soccer team will play against Florida Gulf Coast University. Please anticipate significant traffic congestion on campus and on roadways in the surrounding community. In addition, there will be several partial or complete lot closures in the vicinity of the Sun Dome.
Here’s what you need to know:
• All of the Sun Dome parking lots, except Lot 22A, will be CLOSED on event day. Cars that park in Lot 22A must exit the lot by 5:30 pm, or they will be ticketed. Lot 22A will be accessible by driving north on Maple Drive from Alumni Drive.
• USF will create an overflow parking lot for E permit holders in the field north of the College of Business. This lot will be available during daytime hours only, and all cars must exit the lot by 7:00 pm. This lot will be accessible by driving south on Maple Drive.
• Research Park parking lots will be available as overflow parking for E and S permit holders on Tuesday. Bull Runner Shuttles A and D offer regular shuttle service from Research Park to the Library, and Shuttle E transports passengers from the Library back to the Research Park. In addition, the Crescent Hill and Laurel Garages typically have available parking spaces and offer regular, convenient shuttle service. These lots may be especially helpful for people seeking parking spots during the day.
• After 5:30 pm, cars with valid USF parking decals (except Y) may park in most campus lots, excluding Resident and Reserved parking spaces.
• If you plan to attend the soccer game, please consider taking Holly Avenue to Sycamore Drive to avoid traffic congestion.
Unless you are attending the concert or have other business in the area, it is recommended that you avoid the Southeast section of the USF Tampa campus between 5:30 pm and 11:30 pm.
If you have any questions, please contact Parking & Transportation Services at (813) 974-3990.

In the last year Florence has graced the stages of Saturday Night Live, Good Morning America, The Colbert Report, the 53rd Grammy Awards - where she performed as part of an all-girl, all-star Aretha Franklin tribute and was nominated for Best New Artist - the 83rd Academy Awards, Anna Wintour’s obscenely star-studded annual Met Ball, and the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo. Time Magazine ranked her at number fifty-one in their 2011 list of the one hundred most influential people in the world. She has officially graduated from up-and-coming fashion influence to full-blown style icon. She’s hung out with her musical heroes and heard their blessings and gushing praise. Even Beyoncé has acknowledged that Florence and The Machine was a key influence on her last album.
“This is the first time I’ve made a record with a sort of overarching, cohesive sound” says Florence: “It’s a proper studio album in that sense: a group of songs that paint a unified picture of where I am in my life right now.”
Recorded with her full band over five weeks this summer in Abbey Road's legendary Studio 3, 'Ceremonials' is another product of her long-running collaboration with producer Paul Epworth. Together they’ve created an expansive art-pop vision that can be both captivatingly tender while still frequently soaring to places where it can overwhelm the senses like an emotive tidal wave. It’s a rich tapestry that unpicks the conventions of classic pop, shoots them through a black hole and reconstitutes them into a multi-layered, future-primitive stomp. And underpinning it all, Florence's beguiling, epic vocals. A mature masterpiece that confirms its creator is in for the long haul.
